EnerMech supported Shell’s Shearwater rejuvenation programme by delivering a live-system isolation solution during the 2020 pit stop, a critical enabler for the 2021 Turnaround (TAR). The challenge involved isolating a 24” Emergency Shutdown Valve (ESDV) without shutting down the system or replacing the valve.

EnerMech’s engineering team developed a bespoke solution using Sealweld’s Chameleon Sealant—an exclusive technology available to only two companies globally. ValvePro-certified technicians executed the sealant injection and monitoring offshore, enabling Shell to complete the scope safely, efficiently, and without operational disruption.

Key Highlights

  • Live system isolation of a 24” ESDV using Chameleon Sealant

  • 24/7 offshore support and monitoring by ValvePro-certified technicians

  • Full breakdown and removal of sealant post-scope with no residual impact

  • Onshore engineering and planning support with continuous technical coverage

  • Zero downtime or valve replacement required, preserving TAR schedule
