Every Task, Every Person, Every Day – Safe by Choice
Safety is more than compliance – it’s a foundational principle. Our leaders and teams take full accountability, embedding health and safety into every decision. We foster a culture of trust, where learning from experience, not blame, drives continuous improvement and empowers everyone to actively contribute to a safer, more resilient workplace.

Safety is a shared responsibility at EnerMech. We each own our safety and that of our colleagues. Our ‘I am Safe, We are Safer’ maxim reflects our commitment to protecting people and the environment.

Proactive Safety Measurement
Good health and safety performance isn’t just the absence of incidents—it’s the result of proactive risk management. We use leading indicators like positive interventions, action closures, assurance of our Lifesaving Rules, and leadership engagement to measure progress. These are closely monitored and challenged by our Leadership Team and Board to ensure we act quickly on opportunities to improve and keep our people safe.

Empowering Excellence
The expertise of our people drives our success. We support this through a structured approach to training and competence assurance – matching technical and health and safety requirements to individual capabilities. From day one and throughout their careers, our people receive tailored training that equips them to succeed. This ensures they have the skills, confidence, and knowledge to perform safely, effectively, and to the highest standards.

EnerMech's Nine Lifesaving Rules
Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Our Lifesaving Rules provide a clear framework for creating a safe working environment, empowering each of us to contribute to safer operations every day.
Risk assessment and control

Risk assessment and control
The worksite must be physically assessed before starting. Hazards should be identified, permits confirmed, and authorisation obtained. Risk assessments must be understood, controls verified, and conditions continually reassessed, stopping if necessary.
Verify isolations

Verify isolations
The authorised LOTO system must be followed, all energy sources identified, isolations confirmed, and zero energy verified. Conditions should be reassessed continuously, and locks removed only after task completion.
Working at heights

Working at heights
Workers must be trained and authorised to work at height. Appropriate fall protection must be used and inspected before each use. Equipment should be secured, and conditions continually reassessed, stopping if necessary.
Confined space

Confined space
Workers must be trained, competent, and authorised to enter confined spaces. Energy sources must be isolated, atmosphere tested, and monitoring ensured. Compliance with RA and PTW is required, with standby personnel and emergency plans in place. Conditions must be continually reassessed, stopping if necessary.
Line of fire

Line of fire
Workers must stay out of the line of fire, avoiding moving objects, vehicles, pressure releases, and dropped objects. Barriers and exclusion zones must be followed, loose objects secured, and conditions continually reassessed, stopping if necessary.
Safety barriers and signage

Safety barriers and signage
Workers must comply with all safety barriers and signs, seek clarification when needed, and use appropriate barricades for hazardous activities. Safety devices must be functional and unobstructed. Conditions must be continually reassessed, stopping if necessary.
Lifting operations

Lifting operations
Workers must confirm a risk assessment or lifting plan is in place, consider SIMOPS, ensure loads are securely slung, use a designated signaller when required, and verify equipment is inspected and fit for purpose.
Operating vehicles and equipment

Operating vehicles and equipment
Workers must complete all pre-use checks, report faults, and always wear a seatbelt. Only authorised personnel may operate vehicles or mobile plant. Speed limits must be followed, with adjustments for road and environmental conditions.
Fit for duty

Fit for duty
Workers must adhere to EnerMech’s Fit for Duty policy, refrain from operating vehicles or machinery under the influence of drugs or alcohol, inform supervisors about prescribed medication, and intervene if others are suspected of being impaired.
Our Safety Champions and Heroes
We expect everyone at EnerMech to be a safety champion—taking pride in working safely and making a positive impact. Those who go above and beyond are recognised as our Safety Heroes. They inspire others to go above and beyond through their actions and are celebrated with public recognition from our CEO, who values their outstanding contribution to our safety culture and the example they set for others across the business.
