Elevating Lifting Standards in the Middle East - Dan Collins, SVP Lifting Solutions, EnerMech
The Middle East represents a crucial growth market for us here at EnerMech and with the launch of our new Lifting Solutions facility in Abu Dhabi, we have taken an important step to strengthen our position in the region.
In recent months, we have secured several long-term contract extensions, clear evidence of the confidence our clients place in our technical capability, safety performance and ability to deliver across some of the most complex lifting scopes in the industry.
And personally, having been based in the UAE for over a decade, I’ve witnessed first-hand the pace, ambition and technical demands of the Middle East’s energy landscape. As head of our global Lifting Solutions division, my focus is on ensuring that we are at the forefront of industry progress by advancing digitalisation, strengthening our client partnerships and setting new benchmarks in lifting performance.
An evolving market
The lifting market across the Middle East remains exceptionally robust. Large-scale offshore projects continue to drive demand for safe, efficient and dependable lifting solutions. What we’re also seeing more than ever before is a heightened emphasis on quality, reliability and lifecycle performance.
We currently support major crane operations and maintenance scopes for several key operators, and our priority is always to ensure that we maintain consistent, high standards wherever we operate. We know in this region that trust is built on flawless execution.
A major milestone for us this year has been opening our dedicated lifting facility in Abu Dhabi. Purpose-built for crane and lifting operations, it brings together repair and overhaul workshops, logistics support and engineering teams in a single, lean and efficient environment.
We’re also installing an offshore crane simulator, which will enhance our internal training and, in time, be available to customers. These are long-term investments that reinforce our commitment to regional capability.
Earning long-term trust
Recently, through our Energy Solutions team, we secured a two-year extension for crane services and a five-year extension for leak testing and flange management. For me, contract extensions are one of the strongest endorsements a client can offer.
Our lifting crews work closely within client operations and are often integrated into planning, maintenance and asset management systems. Over time, this creates a partnership built on shared expectations, transparency and continuous improvement. That trust is earned through years of safe, reliable delivery and clear communication in everything we do.
We are also seeing more operators recognise the value of our wider EnerMech offerings. By connecting our specialist capabilities across service lines and asset lifecycles, clients can build more integrated, well-rounded solutions.
Lifting as a strategic discipline
Lifting is often perceived as simply moving equipment from point A to point B but, in reality, it is a highly engineered, multi-discipline process. We support clients in the safe removal and reinstallation of major assets offshore - from compressors to turbines - requiring everything from deck loading calculations to bespoke lifting frame design and fabrication.
Our goal is to help clients understand the breadth of our capabilities. We have delivered complex, high-value lifting projects around the world, supported by a proven track record and a deep pool of technical expertise.
Many of our clients are already benefiting from EVAMP, our proprietary digital platform that delivers predictive, data-driven maintenance and digitised asset management. EVAMP provides instant visibility of crane status - whether operational or in maintenance - which enables proactive planning, reduces downtime and enhances reliability.
Our ambition is to lead the digital transformation of lifting operations. We continually challenge conventional approaches, ensuring our services remain engineering-led rather than admin-heavy, so clients can focus on value-adding activities.
Strategic growth
Despite global uncertainties, the lifting market remains active with opportunities for well-positioned companies like EnerMech.
The new Abu Dhabi facility strengthens our presence in one of the world’s most important energy hubs and supports our ambition to lead the region in world-class lifting solutions. We are investing in local capability, growing our teams and accelerating training to ensure we respond quickly and effectively to client needs.
As we look to the future, our focus is clear: deliver safely, embrace digital transformation and leverage AI to make lifting operations smarter, more predictive and more efficient. By doing so, we will continue creating value for our clients. Both here in the Middle East and across the globe.
