"With an integrated approach to resolving our clients’ project challenges, EnerMech is fast becoming the chosen partner for specialist technical solutions around the globe. Hiring local talent to strengthen our centralized AMEC team of pipeline and subsea commissioning specialists has played an integral role in the successful delivery of a major scope for the business in Azerbaijan," says Dan Collins.

We are proud to announce the completion of a significant pipeline and subsea services campaign for the Absheron Early Production Scheme (EPS) for the Joint Operating Company of Absheron Petroleum (JOCAP).

Our team of over 25 specialists—more than 90% of whom were local Azerbaijani hires—successfully delivered piping commissioning and dewatering services for a 12” subsea flowline pipeline. With zero incidents reported, the three-year campaign was completed on schedule with zero non-productive time. This accomplishment reflects our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

The Absheron gas-condensate field is located in the Caspian Sea, approximately 100 km southeast of Baku, and began production under the EPS phase in July 2023. The 50/50 joint venture between SOCAR and TotalEnergies is overseen by JOCAP and has a production capacity of four million cubic meters of gas and 12,000 barrels of condensate per day. The gas is expected to be sold in Azerbaijan’s domestic market, contributing to energy security through a sustainable solution.

The EPS phase involves connecting the subsea production well to a new gas processing platform, which is linked to SOCAR's existing facilities at Oil Rocks. This is the first remotely controlled platform in the Caspian.

For the commissioning scope, we successfully delivered full high-pressure nitrogen and bolt torque/tensioning spreads. Additionally, for the dewatering phase, we mobilized a comprehensive spread consisting of:

  • 8 air compressors

  • 2 nitrogen generation units

  • 2 high-pressure gas boosters

  • 1 MEG analyzer

  • All necessary accessories

A staggering 20,000,000 standard cubic feet of nitrogen was produced and pumped into the pipeline.

Throughout the campaign, the JOCAP project management team expressed their appreciation for our responsiveness and professionalism.

EnerMech’s spokesperson added:
“We would like to express our gratitude to JOCAP for entrusting us with this important project and for their constant support throughout. Our successful delivery is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our team, our innovative technology solutions, and the strong partnerships we’ve built with our client and stakeholders.

EnerMech is fully committed to delivering exceptional pipeline and subsea commissioning services by maintaining the highest safety standards and contributing to the growth and development of the local talent we employ. This project directly benefited from this ongoing strategy, which also fosters a collaborative environment, promotes knowledge transfer, and supports sustainable development in the communities where we operate.”
