In recognition of World Youth Skills Day, EnerMech Americas is proud to highlight the progress and reflections of our 2025 summer interns. This year, a group of talented students joined us to gain hands-on experience across departments, build professional skills, and explore the inner workings of the energy sector.

Through a structured rotation program, our interns have been exposed to a wide range of disciplines—from engineering and supply chain to business development and HR. Along the way, they’ve developed technical knowledge, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of how collaboration drives success in a global business.

We asked each intern two questions to reflect on their journey so far:

  1. Which rotation has been the most insightful and why?

  2. What is your biggest takeaway from the internship experience so far?

Here’s what they had to say:

Kaden Davis

My rotation with finance has given me the best view into the interworking of the company. It showed me how the leadership can look at different metrics and make conclusions about the health of the company and where problems may lie.

My biggest takeaway this far in the internship is that communication is more important than I ever thought. It does not matter how great your ideas are or the extent of your technical knowledge, if you cannot communicate them to other people.

Colin Lynch

The most insightful rotation so far has been my time with the Supply Chain team. I’ve learned how critical visibility and communication are across departments, especially when it comes to tracking inventory, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring equipment is returned and accounted for. I’ve also had the opportunity to identify areas for improvement, like standardizing nomenclature and streamlining loadout lists, which has helped me understand how small changes can make a big impact.

My biggest takeaway is the importance of systems thinking—understanding how each part of the business connects and affects the others. Whether it’s improving safety procedures, reducing unnecessary costs, or enhancing communication between teams, I’ve seen how proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement are essential to success in a complex organization like EnerMech.

Over the course of my two months at EnerMech, I've completed four rotations. Out of these, the most insightful was Business Development with Rob Bleicher. During this rotation, I had the opportunity to step away from Human Resources and gain an understanding of how EnerMech acquires and builds client relationships that drive overall business growth. As a student studying business, seeing the foundational principles I've learned applied in a real-world setting was a full-circle moment. Specifically, what made this rotation insightful was realizing how every effort, no matter how small—contributes to retaining clients. It highlighted just how directly energy, time, and strategy in business development impact EnerMech's overall success and operations within the industry.

Choosing just one takeaway up to this point in my internship is difficult because I've gained a multitude of valuable insights that have contributed to my personal and professional growth. However, if I were to choose one key takeaway that accurately represents the entirety of my time at EnerMech, it would be this: the people you work with make all the difference. We spend almost a third of our lives working; therefore, our workplace and the people within it ultimately become a significant part of who we are. If I can say one thing confidently, it's that the individuals who work at EnerMech genuinely care—not just about the work, but about one another. That care and passion are evident in every interaction. Being surrounded by colleagues who motivate, uplift, and drive one another toward success cultivates an environment where you're more inclined to contribute and bring your best self to work every day. You could work at any company, but what truly sets one apart from another is its people—something EnerMech exemplifies.

Participating in the department rotations has been an amazing experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the business development rotation, during which I gained valuable insight into how EnerMech sets strategic goals and plans for future projects. As an engineer, I had never been exposed to the inner workings of business operations. It really opened my eyes into how a business thinks and how the different departments connect and collaborate.

One of my biggest takeaways from this internship was learning how to communicate effectively with clients, teammates, and supervisors to move a project forward. I saw first-hand how clear communication and consistent follow-up are essential to keeping work aligned and on schedule.

The rotation that has been most insightful to me has been my experience with Industrial & Infrastructure. This is because I have gotten to see all areas of the business—from project management and logistics to actual hands-on experience in the field. I have seen the full process of what it takes to coordinate equipment and personnel and then go out to the jobsites to complete the work. This experience has allowed me to understand all aspects of the field and has given me a clearer picture of what life as an engineer could be like, as well as the importance of EnerMech’s line of work.

My biggest takeaway is the time and dedication it takes to make a company successful. The number of high-caliber people here at EnerMech is reflected in its current success. Everyone I have worked with pours countless hours into their work to further the company’s interests. This has shown me the passion and energy I need to bring every day to help make any company successful.

The most insightful rotation for me was Technical Solutions. I got to learn how the team comes up with smart ways to solve real problems for clients. It was interesting to see how technical knowledge is used to make sure everything runs safely and correctly. I also liked how the team worked closely with other departments to get the job done—it showed me how important teamwork is.

My biggest takeaway so far is that every part of the company is connected. Each department has an important role, and good communication really makes a difference. I’ve also learned how important it is to be flexible and pay attention to the small things, because even minor details can affect the whole project.

Jose Munoz Gutierrez

The most insightful rotation I’ve had so far has been with safety because it closely tied into my DHDA project. For this project, we worked on implementing a device to mobilize DHDA pumps in the field , which helps reduce the risk to personnel when moving these heavy pumps. The safety rotation gave me a deeper understanding of the processes and considerations required to ensure the device could be safely approved and used, including risk assessments, change control forms, and standard operating procedures.

One of my biggest takeaways from this internship has been learning how to work and adapt to a professional environment. I’ve gained a better understanding of workplace expectations, how to manage responsibilities effectively in a real-world setting, and how different departments work together to help push projects forward and deliver results.

As we celebrate World Youth Skills Day, we recognize the importance of providing young professionals with opportunities to grow, contribute, and lead. Our interns are not only gaining technical and business knowledge, but also developing the communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills that will shape their future careers.

We thank all the mentors, managers, and teams who have supported this program and look forward to seeing how these future leaders continue to grow throughout the summer.
