OPITO Banksman & Slinger Training (Stage 1 & 2)

The aims & objectives of Stage 1 is to provide personnel, who have little or no experience of the Banksman & Slinger role, with the basic knowledge of activities associated with the combined roles, & the safety & regulatory requirements of those activities.

Initial training program allows the delegate to demonstrate basic Banksman & Slinger practical skills following instruction & demonstration by the training staff. This training programme aims to prepare the delegates for the next stage of the progression path to become a competent Banksman & Slinger i.e Stage 2: Supervised Workplace Experience.

The Stage 3 & 4 Assessment is comprised of two parts, Knowledge & Practical Assessment. Successful candidates that fully meet the knowledge and practical standard will then be deemed competent to undertake bankman & slinger operations in the workplace.

OPITO Rigger Competence (Stage 3 & 4)

The Stage 3 & 4 Assessment is comprised of two parts, Knowledge & Practical Assessment, successful candidates that fully meet the knowledge and practical standard will then be deemed competent to undertake Rigger operations in the workplace.

OPITO Rigger Training (Stage 1 & 2)

The target group for Stage 1 is personnel who have little or no training and experience in Rigging & Lifting operations and wish to gain an OPITO Rigger Training Certificate.

The aim and objectives are to provide the delegate with knowledge of the rigging principles, general hazards and risks of rigging and lifting operations, an awareness of relevant legislation and regulation, and a opportunity to practise basic rigging operations following a lifting plan.

Rigging Loft Management (Lifting Gear Inspection)

This course is aimed at personnel responsible for the issuing and control of lifting equipment from a Rigging Loft onboard an offshore installation, or a shore based workplace. There is an initial test paper to demonstrate inherent level of knowledge on the subject. The course also culminates in a short test paper on lifting equipment inspection.

Manual Handling Training

This course is aimed at personnel who are required to carry out manual handling activities as part of their regular duties. The course aims to enable personnel to assess their own work activities and contribute towards the development of safer methods and tasks.

This course is intended for personnel appointed as an organisation’s LOLER Competent Person. The LOLER Competent Person plans or approves all lifting operations in the workplace and ensures lifting operations comply with LOLER regulations and company procedures. The course provides an assessment of the LOLER Competent Person’s competence.

LOLER Awareness

LOLER is the prime source of information and guidance with respect to legislation concerning onshore and offshore lifting operations and lifting equipment.

Course is targeted at Mechanics/Technicians or Supervisory/Foreman level personnel who are required to plan lifting operations, organise the administration of lifting operations, and/or set up/complete lifting equipment records.
