Mechanical services company EnerMech Ltd has opened new offices in Doha, which will be soon followed by workshop facilities in Qatar and further expansion in the Middle East.
The Aberdeen-based cranes, lifting and rigging specialist has already secured a general services contracts from Maersk Oil Qatar to provide offshore crane maintenance and crane operator training.
EnerMech has also mobilised 20 cryogenic tanks and associated nitrogen equipment to Qatar which will be used in commissioning work on offshore platforms in the Al Shaheen field.
The expansion into Qatar is part of the company’s overall growth strategy and follows on from establishing facilities at Ras Al Khaimah and Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates. EnerMech is also in final discussions over a joint venture in Abu Dhabi and plans to extend its Middle East footprint.
EnerMech’s regional director for the Middle East, Charlie Topp, said: “With the high level of oil and gas activity in Qatar it was essential that we are properly represented in the country and this new office will soon be followed by a hydraulics workshop and facilities to store and assemble our flexible hose lines and other products.
“The new Qatar base also gives us closer access to neighbouring countries and paves the way for the opening of further bases in Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
“EnerMech is already well established in the region through our earlier acquisitions of Pavitt Energy and Scotia Oilfield Trading and we are looking forward to building on that reputation and creating new partnerships with the leading operating companies.”
EnerMech’s Qatar office is located in the Commercial Bank Building, West Bay, Doha.
