EnerMech Ltd has invested more than £6 million in a new global headquarters located in Aberdeen and regional hubs.
The mechanical services specialist has agreed a 15 year lease on the former Acergy site at Bucksburn. The Howes Road location consists of 38,000 sq ft of workshops and warehousing, 19,000 sq ft of office space and an extensive open storage yard.
The opening of a new headquarters is in tandem with moves to larger premises for EnerMech branches in Great Yarmouth and Norway and the opening of a branch in Singapore. The company also plan to build a new 60,000 sq ft facility in the United Arab Emirates following the recent acquisition of Pavitt Energy and to open a base in Doha, Qatar.
The move allows the company to pool its engineering resources, integrate recent acquisitions, reduce operating costs and increase efficiency. EnerMech’s crane and lifting and safety training divisions, which were at two separate sites in Dyce have been relocated to Bucksburn, joining the company’s equipment rental and hydraulics business and the senior management team.
EnerMech managing director, Doug Duguid, said: “This represents a substantial capital investment not only in Aberdeen but in key strategic locations which will pave the way for further international expansion.
“Our strategy is to collocate our different service lines, equipment and tools, in four main hubs and to build a substantial engineering group in each location which can deliver services with a more local focus. Sharing resources in this way allows us to minimise overheads, enhance the quality of service we provide and be more cost effective in the services we deliver to our clients.”
Mr Duguid said with EnerMech already established in Aberdeen, UAE and Singapore, the company envisaged opening a fourth hub which would be to support clients operating in West Africa.
The Aberdeen facility includes two large workshops with two 20-ton overhead cranes, two 30,000 psi test bays, a hose assembly workshop, crane simulator and extensive modern classrooms for EnerMech’s safety training division.
EnerMech specialises in the supply, maintenance and engineering of cranes, lifting, pumping and hydraulic equipment, rental of hand tools and zoned equipment, and provision of training and specialist personnel to the energy industry.
