Crane Management Firm Secures Contract

A leading Aberdeen-based Offshore crane and lifting service firm has secured a contract with Mobil North Sea Limited (MNSL).
Specialist Maintenance Services Ltd (SMS) has renewed and extended its contract with MNSL, taking complete responsibility for the company’s crane and lifting operations, including Onshore management and Offshore crane maintenance.

The new contract, which includes a renewal option, will see SMS continue to provide its specialist services on the Beryl platforms in the Northern North Sea of the United Kingdom Continental Shelf (UKCS). The extended agreement will see the company also operate in nine Southern North Sea assets as well as on three additional assets in the Norwegian sector.
SMS has worked with MNSL – the UK arm of ExxonMobil’s North Sea Production Unit – since 1989 and successfully bid for the extended contract, which was put out to tender earlier this year due to an increased work scope and an expanded geographic area.
John Morrison, joint managing director with SMS, said the firm is currently recruiting additional personnel as the extended contract will involve an increased workforce.
Mr Morrison continued: “We are delighted to have renewed and extended our agreement with Mobil, which I believe is testament to the excellent reputation we have built up over the past 17 years by continually supplying a professional service.
“We have invested a great deal in our premises and in our people over the past couple of years and I believe this has helped consolidate our strengths and put us in a solid position from which to win significant contracts like these.”
